Era, a subsidiary of SRA International, is to install a next-generation air traffic management system at Sochi Intentional Airport in Russia.
Era received the contract from Lianozovo Electromechanical Plant Research and Production Corporation to deploy its surface multilateration and automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) system at the airport.
The system will provide air traffic controllers with complete surface situational awareness in all climatic conditions and integrate advanced-surface movement guidance and control systems.
It will also provide higher accuracy, faster update rates, better coverage and improved reliability.
The ADS-B system will help air navigation service providers and airport operators to ease capacity constraints, improve airspace and ground space efficiencies and reduce costs.
Sochi International Airport is undergoing an extensive modernisation project to enhance its capacity so it can handle the expected increase in air traffic during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
