Frankfurt Airport Reports Record Traffic

Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) in Germany has reported a 1.4% rise in passenger traffic year-on-year, handling 24.5 million passengers in the first six months of 2010. Cargo tonnage has exceeded more than one million metric tons, an increase of 32.2% in the first half of 2010.

In June 2010, FRA's passenger traffic rose by 7% to just under 5 million passengers while cargo traffic rose by 29.9% to 192,508 metric tons.

Maximum takeoff weights rose 4.8% to almost 2.5 million metric tons and aircraft movements climbed by 2.7% to 41,159 takeoffs and landings.

The Fraport Group's five majority-owned airports have posted 11.8% growth year-on-year by handling 9.2 million passengers in June 2010.

The airports include Frankfurt International Airport, Antalya International Airport in Turkey, Burgas International Airport and Varna International Airport in Bulgaria as well as Lima International Airport in Peru.

The group's cargo volume increased by 27.5% to 217,000 metric tons, with aircraft movements also rising 8.3% to 75,000 takeoffs and landings.

The Fraport Group airports posted a 7% growth in passenger traffic and a 30% surge in cargo tonnage during the first six months of 2010.
