BA Strike Pulls Down BAA’s June Traffic

A strike by British Airways cabin crew in the beginning of June has resulted in a drop in passenger traffic at airports controlled by BAA.

BAA's airports handled 9.5 million passengers in June, a decline of 1.7% compared to the same period in 2009.

Traffic declined by 5.2% at Stansted Airport, 7% at Glasgow Airport, 2% at Edinburgh Airport and 4% at Aberdeen Airport.

Passenger traffic rose by 0.1% at Heathrow Airport, 3.7% at Southampton Airport and by 4% at Naples Airport.

Air transport movements dropped 3.1% at the airports while cargo traffic posted a strong growth of 23.4% at Heathrow and by 21.7% at the group level.
