The new airport operator, Aeris Holding Costa Rica, has invested $40m in the project, which began in May 2009.

The expansion will feature nine boarding bridges and five-door exits, along with 17,500m² of additional space to complete the airport terminal, according to The Costa Rica News.

Furthermore, it will also add 4920m² of additional space required for housing the new immigration area, the roll-bar and X-ray machines that were installed in April.
