Sensis Corporation's surface multilateration system, which improves and enhances runway safety, has been deployed at London Stansted Airport, UK.

The system will monitor the movement of aircraft and vehicles on the airport's runways, taxiways and stand areas, and will increase surface safety and efficiency.

The system will use multiple low-maintenance, non-rotating sensors to triangulate aircraft and vehicle locations based on transponder signals.

Equipped with automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast, the system will provide air traffic controllers with precise aircraft position and identification information.

The same surveillance device is also used by air traffic controllers at the UK's Heathrow and Gatwick airports to manage surface traffic in all weather conditions.
