Inman / EMJ Construction Corporation has been awarded a contract to expand security checkpoints at Terminal B of Memphis International Airport in Tennessee, US.

The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority wants to increase the airport's checkpoint from four to seven lanes to accommodate the latest security screening technology.

The $7m contract will include the reconfiguration of the screening area for installation of an escalator from the B concourse exit to the baggage claim area.

Demolition work for the checkpoint expansion will begin within 30 days, and the project is expected to take nearly a year to complete, according to memphisdailynews.com.

The Transportation Security Administration will deploy full body scanners and other security equipment upon completion of the project.
