Zurich Airport in Switzerland has installed a new runway incursion monitoring and conflict alert system (RIMCAS) to prevent runway incursions and enhance safety.

It will enable air traffic controllers to monitor and manage movements of aircraft and vehicles on the airport's runway and taxiway network.

The system will use data from radar and sensors to calculate the position of all aircraft and vehicles on or near the airport's runways and taxiways.

It will effectively identify any possible movement conflicts and alert the air traffic tower controllers by issuing audio and visual signals.
