Noi Bai International Airport in Vietnam has awarded Northrop Grumman a contract to provide air traffic control tower communications equipment and a surface movement guidance and control system for the facility's new air traffic control tower.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman will provide its GAREX voice communication and control system, recording system and PAE T6 multi-mode air-ground radios.

The equipment will be fully integrated with the recently built 80m-high air traffic control tower to enhance communications at the airport.

The advanced surface movement guidance and control system (A-SMGCS) will include the NOVA 9000 display processing system and a surface movement radar.

It will also include 16 controller working positions placed in the tower and approach rooms, and a technical position with recording and test systems for engineering and training purposes.

Integrated with existing control systems, NOVA 9000 will enhance air traffic control capabilities and ensure a clear view of ground movements for air traffic controllers.
