The total passenger traffic at Muscat International Airport in Oman increased by 29% to 854,387 between January and February 2010 compared with 660,578 for the same period in 2009.
Arrival and departure passengers through the airport also increased by 8.97% to 858,390 at the end of February 2010 compared with 537,187 for the same period last year.
Overall, arrivals increased by 9% to 305,554 and departures by 9% to 279,836, according to the Global Arab Network.
The increase in traffic is mainly due to the increase in flights operated by airlines such as Air India Express, Lufthansa and Shaheen Air International.
Unloaded and loaded freight also rose by 62% between January and February 2010, with a total shipment of 14,406t compared with 8,887t in the same period in 2009.
