Reno-Tahoe International Airport in the US has installed a new airport noise and operations monitoring system (ANOMS), WebTrak, to track and record aircraft noise data.

The system includes 14 noise monitors installed in neighbourhoods surrounding the airport to track the level of noise produced by aircraft flying overhead.

The online system features information such as aircraft type, aircraft altitude and which airline the aircraft belongs to, plus its origin and destination airports.

WebTrak's integrated noise complaint feature will allow residents to view a specific flight, which is making high level of noise and file a complaint online.

The ANOMS system, costing nearly $2m, was funded through a federal grant and airport funds.
