The three airports operated by Australia's Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) handled 550,000 passengers in February 2010, an increase of 18% compared to February 2009.
Mount Isa Airport reported a 30% increase in traffic, handling 14,530 passengers compared to the same period last year, its most significant increase in 12 months.
Townsville Airport recorded a growth of 14% compared to February 2009 after handling 115,270 passengers.
Gold Coast Airport posted a year-on-year total increase of nearly 19% in both domestic and international passenger movements.
QAL managing director Dennis Chant said that, overall, February 2010 is the most positive month the company has experienced since the onset of the GFC in late 2008.
