Hongqiao International Airport in China has begun trial operations at its new runway. The new runway will begin full services from today, according to ShanghaiDaily.com. The airport's two runways are expected to handle a total of 33 landings and take-offs each hour.

Hongqiao Airport will also open its new terminal today, which will handle up to 90% of carriers at the airport and 30 million passengers per year.

According to the Shanghai Airport Authority, the new runway and terminal will help the airport to increase its annual passenger capacity by 60%.
