NAV CANADA is to install IntelliDAR, an advanced video platform, in order to develop video technology applications for airport surface surveillance and remote monitoring.

The Searidge Technologies-developed IntelliDA is a non-cooperative surveillance system (NCSS) that detects and tracks all targets on an airport surface.

The system processes video from a series of video camera sensors networked together to provide real-time geospatial positioning of all targets in a given area, delivered to controllers via a situational display.

NAV CANADA also installed the IntelliDAR platform at the Ottawa test-bed, to determine the potential application of the system in operations ranging from airport surface management and remote monitoring.

NAV CANADA, which operates Canada's civil air navigation system (ANS), has also deployed various other video systems including an air traffic control (ATC)-grade video, marine exclusion zone monitoring and weather automation.
