The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded a contract to Morpho Detection to deliver Itemiser DX explosive trace detection systems (ETD) to replace and upgrade existing units at airport checkpoints across the US.

Morpho has won the $16m contract, which is partly funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), after a competitive contracting process.

The Itemiser DX is a trace-based desktop explosive trace detection system, which complies with TSA's recent detection standards.

The Itemiser DX, which has completed qualification testing and operational testing and evaluation, will use a single detector to simultaneously detect positive and negative ions.
