Global mobility provider Schindler will supply 70 escalators, elevators and moving walks to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in the US, under a contract awarded by the airport operator Los Angeles World Airports.

Under the CHF43m (US$40m) contract, Schindler will remove and replace 60 escalators and four moving walks, as well as modernise six hydraulic passenger elevators, as part of a major modernisation programme at the airport.

LAX modernisation work will include the construction of new gates to accommodate Airbus A380s and the refurbishing of the airport's terminals, including the main Tom Bradley International Terminal.
