Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport in China is to open its new aviation terminal on 16 March 2010 for domestic air carriers.
The new terminal will be used by domestic airlines such as Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines.
Spring Airlines, China's only low-cost air carrier, is negotiating deals to use the existing terminal, following the opening of the second terminal.
A new runway will become operational at the airport on the same day as the new terminal's opening, as part of a west-region expansion project.
The runway will measure 3,300m in length and 60m in width, and serve some of the world's biggest airliners.
