The UK is helping Yemen upgrade its airport security, and will subsequently consider lifting the suspension of direct flights to Britain from Yemen.

According to reports, the two countries are working towards identifying enhanced security measures in order to cope with higher levels of security, particularly in Yemen's capital Sanaa.

In January 2010, Britain suspended direct flights of Yemen's state carrier Yemenia, as a result of a failed Christmas Day attack on a Detroit-bound airliner.

Meanwhile, in an effort to enhance security, Yemen has increased staff at its main airport.
