Asaba Airport in Nigeria's Delta State will become operational by the end of April 2010, according to Delta State Deputy Governor Amos Utuama.

"We are optimistic that going at the current speed the airport will definitely be delivered by April," he said.

The passenger and cargo airport will include a 3km runway, a 49,500m² apron, a 2km taxiway and a 3,600m² terminal building.

The airport is being constructed by Moses ULO Consultants at a cost of N6.47bn ($42.4m).
