Abu Dhabi International Airport has invited pre-qualification bids for the midfield terminal building (MTB) as part of its airport expansion programme.

The project will be delivered by the supervision committee for the expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport (SCADIA), which has been mandated by the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi.

The expansion programme is designed to make Abu Dhabi a regional hub for transportation, trade and tourism.

Sited between two operational runways, the 630,000m² midfield terminal is expected to serve more than 20 million passengers annually.

The midfield terminal complex will also include a multistorey car park, and landside and airside developments.

The complex will serve as the base of operations for Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, and other airlines.
