Air, road and rail services have been disrupted due to a blizzard across Europe, which has forced a state of emergency to be declared in parts of Germany's Baltic coast region.

Cointrin International Airport in Geneva, Switzerland, has been closed leaving thousand of passengers stranded during one of the country's busiest tourist weekends.

Frankfurt International Airport in Germany cancelled 225 were cancelled on Saturday 9 January and 91 flights on the Sunday.

Poland is also grappling with heavy snow.
