Chingodzi Airport in Mozambique will begin international operations during the first half of 2010.
Work to upgrade the airport's terminal began in 2007 and it is currently in the final phase of contruction. It is expected to be complete within the next three months.
Work included the construction of a new radio-aid system – VOR-DNE, a runway lighting system and apron, and an air navigation area.
Work on the domestic and international boarding areas is also nearing completion.
New conveyor belts and security equipment such as X-ray devices will also be installed at the boarding area entrances and at the check-in counter.
