Jacobs Engineering Group has been awarded a contract by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to implement its EnRoute facilities planning and modernisation programme.

Jacobs will provide architect and engineer (A-E) design services for the $99m project, which will last for nine years.

The FAA's programme aims to modernise the nation's critical air traffic control infrastructure and support new initiatives such as the next-generation air transportation system (NextGen).

The company is also expected to provide other services such as strategic planning and programme management, soil investigation, field surveys and studies, environmental impact data collection and structural investigation.
