Providence / TF Green International Airport in the US is to develop new airport traffic forecasts as part of its review for its runway extension project.
The airport awarded a $700,000 consulting contract to Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, a US-based firm, to develop the forecasts.
The new data will delay the runway expansion plan by six months.
The extended runway will allow heavier planes to take off from the airport.
Passenger traffic at the airport has declined 10% to 3.3 million passengers in September 2009 compared with 3.6 million passengers in the same month in 2008.
