Mineta San Jose International Airport in the US has unveiled its newly expanded security checkpoint at Terminal A as part of a $1.3bn terminal upgrade project.

The centralised checkpoint is housed on the second floor of Terminal A and has eight lanes that could be expanded to 12 lanes in the future.

The new security checkpoint replaces the existing six lane checkpoint and offers faster screening processes.

The overall refurbishment of Terminal A is expected to be complete by February 2010.
