Communications specialist SITA has signed a contract with five of the 38 EUROCONTROL member states to link air traffic control (ATC) centres across Europe.

SITA’s pan-European communications network service (PENS) will offer a unified link between central flow management units and the European Aeronautical Information Service.

It will replace existing ATC links, which rely on telephone lines that are no longer compliant with Single European Sky metrics.

EUROCONTROL is the European organisation for maintaining air-navigation safety.
