A routine X-ray scan at Ireland's Dublin International Airport helped detect a pet smuggler who was carrying a Chihuahua dog in his hand luggage.

The pint-sized dog and his owner, a Bulgarian man, had travelled from Bulgaria to Madrid and then onto Dublin.

The dog passed through security checks at both airports in Bulgaria and Madrid, but was picked up by an X-ray scanner installed at the Irish airport.
