The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has unveiled a new air traffic control (ATC) tower at Cork International Airport.

Part of an upgrade programme, the tower will enhance connectivity between Cork’s air traffic management (ATM) systems and the IAA’s other ATC centres at Shannon and Dublin.

The €7.5m ATC tower was funded entirely by the IAA.

Construction on the tower began in 2007, and the project was complete by June 2008. Installation and testing of the upgraded ATM system was complete by mid-October 2009.
