Gary / Chicago International Airport in the US plans to extend its main runway by removing railroad tracks in the area. The airport will embark on a $50m project that will see the the runway extended by 1,900ft. Work will include moving an oil tank and nearby high-voltage powe

Gary / Chicago International Airport in the US plans to extend its main runway by removing railroad tracks in the area.

The airport will embark on a $50m project that will see the the runway extended by 1,900ft.

Work will include moving an oil tank and nearby high-voltage power lines, and lowering a stretch of the Indiana Toll Road.

Approximately $20m will be provided by federal grants from the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority.
