Glasgow International Airport in the UK is planning to close one of its terminal building this winter following the decrease in international passenger figures.

The move follows concern from the British Airport Authority (BAA) that international passenger figures fell by 20% – accounting for almost 121,000 passengers – in July.

The £12 million terminal was opened five years ago and is used as a check-in hall for low-cost carrier easyJet and charter flights.

BAA had initially considered selling the airport, but now believes holding onto the building until winter may save £300,000.

The airport suffered another blow recently when the Scottish government decided to scrap the Glasgow Airport Rail Link proposal.
