Fort Wayne International Airport in the US is to receive a $1.08m grant from the US Department of Transportation to upgrade its runway.

The funds from the grant will be used to restore the shoulders adjacent to the main runway and extend them by 25ft on either side.

The project comprises 95% federal funds, 2.5% state funds and 2.5% funded by the airport itself.

The project is expected to be complete by November 2009.
