Leeds-Bradford International Airport (LBIA) in the UK is about to embark on a £28m passenger terminal renovation.

The rehabilitation project includes a two-storey expansion of the building and internal refurbishments to the old terminal.

The refurbishments will include an extended zone for passenger security screening, a new airside departure lounge, overhaul of the airside immigration facility, renovation of the domestic baggage reclaim hall, and additional retail and food and beverage facilities.

Overall, it will provide 4,600m² of additional space 50% being used on the ground floor for check-in, concourse and security facilities. The remainder will be used on the first floor for retail facilities and a newly remodelled departure lounge.

The airport recently completed a £2m refurbishment of its forecourt, including drop-off and pick-up zones, renovated pedestrian walkways and an improved short-stay car park.
