Siemens has completed its expansion of the baggage handling system at Madrid-Barajas International Airport's Terminal 4.
Three early bag stores (EBS) with a capacity of 7,400 pieces of baggage have recently been incorporated into the company's existing system and become operational.
EBS enables airport operators to convey and sort out baggage that has been checked in early.
The latest EBS installation is the final part of the expansion of the Siemens baggage system that first became operational in early 2006 at the Madrid airport.
The expansion project also included supply of surveillance cameras and sprinkler systems, conversion of transformer stations, and several constructional modifications.
The expansion project's total order was estimated at over €100m.
