Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in the US will restart the construction of its $419m "Consolidated Rental Car Facility" parking garage.

The initial construction was temporarily suspended in December 2008 due to the global economic crisis.

The facility will be a five-storey structure and will open up two floors of public parking, more than 3,200 spaces, in the main terminal garage.

Once the parking garage is in place, the size, space and efficiency of rental car operations that are currently spread out from the main terminal garage and multiple off-site locations will improve.

The 23-acre facility will support all airport-related rental car operations at one convenient location and is designed to meet the future demands of passengers.

The new facility is scheduled to open in the spring of 2010.
