Manila to Enhance Passenger Check-In Services

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has awarded a contract to Maryland-based ARINC Incorporated to improve passenger check-in services at Terminals 1 and 2 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in the Philippines. ARINC will install the vMUSE passenger check-in platform

Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has awarded a contract to Maryland-based ARINC Incorporated to improve passenger check-in services at Terminals 1 and 2 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in the Philippines.

ARINC will install the vMUSE passenger check-in platform at the airport's two main terminals.

The company will also support check-in applications with the most advanced common-use passenger processing systems (CUPPS).

MIAA assistant general manager for airport development and corporate affairs Tirso G Serrano said that the new system, being CUPPS compliant, will help the airport save operational costs as well as provide efficient and secure check-in procedures.

The company will also install 84 check-in counters and 15 boarding gates in Terminal 1, 40 check-in counters and six boarding gates in Terminal 2, and will supply new passenger systems with 24-hour maintenance support for the airport.

NAIA serves 28 international airlines including Philippine Airlines, and managed more than 22 million passengers in 2008.
