Transport Canada and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have signed an agreement to share information to counter crime and other dangers at Canadian airports.

The agreement will help both organisations to check the criminal history of workers who have access at Canada’s airports, Airport Business reported.

The decision was taken after auditor general Sheila Fraser highlighted the possibility of suspicious elements working in secure areas at airport in a March report.

The new agreement means Transport Canada will take decisions on security clearances for workers from a broad range of intelligence sources.
