IDO Security has announced the delivery of its innovative MagShoe metal detection system to multiple airport clients.

The technology, which enables airports to scan passengers feet and surrounding area without them having to take their shoes off was delivered to two airports in Italy and three in Poland as well as to airports in Portugal and Nigeria.

MagShoe addresses a key vulnerability found in walkthrough metal detectors and other scanning technologies that stop just above the ankle when scanning for metal and concealed weapons.

Acting CEO of IDO Security, Michael Goldberg said that he was happy with the deliveries and expected to make further client announcements in the near future.

"We are pleased with our results and market penetration that we achieved late in 2008 and early in 2009. MagShoe is gaining interest with airport security agencies as well as many other organisations where security is a must," Goldberg said.

MagShoe is a portable device, which extends metal detection to include the lower extremities, covering everything from four inches above the ankles to the bottoms of the feet without requiring passengers to remove their shoes.
