The Ghana Airport Company (GACL) has revealed that Tamale Airport will soon be upgraded into an international airport.
The project is estimated to cost about $150m and would be carried out in phases depending on the availability of the funds.
The work will include widening and extending the runway and construction of a hacch terminal.
The airport is currently being used by the Ghana Air force and other civilian operators and has seen an increase in passengers since the discovery of oil in the country.
GACL seeks funds from the government and aims to rely on public-private partnership to help fund the project.
