Airport operator Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has unveiled plans to purchase 60 electric buses, which will be used at the Logan International Airport in Boston, US.

The online electric vehicles (OLEV) have been developed by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, with each OLEV costing KRW700m ($628,366).

The $37.59m project is part of Massport's initiative to replace all existing buses at the airport, and to introduce sustainable modes of transport at the facility.

The OLEV's are charged by wireless power supply strips embedded in roadbeds as they travel.

The vehicles will be assembled in the US with KAIST receiving the technology licence fees, according to chosun.com.
