The proposed $1bn expansion at the San Diego International Airport in California, US, will be complete in 2012, airport officials have announced.
The airport's Terminal 2 West project, which has been termed 'The Green Build', is currently under construction.
The project will involve creation of ten new gates, 12 security lanes, an expanded concession area and a dual-level roadway for the airport.
The Green Build, which is being built on a brownfield, a dormant landfill, will consume less energy and water and run on alternative energy sources.
A dual-level roadway is being built at the airport to better organise entry and exit of passengers, reports constructiondigital.com
