The Sharjah International Airport (SIA) in the UAE recorded double-digit growth in passenger traffic and a significant growth in freight volume last year, it has been announced.

The airport recorded a 9.41% rise in the number of passengers to 6.31 million compared with 5.7 million passengers in 2009.

SIA also registered a 6.43% rise in aircraft movement from 61,451 flights in 2009 to 65,401 flights in 2010.

The volume of sea-air cargo handling increased by 32.39% from 50,355 to 66,665t, reports khaleejtimes.com.
