The total number of flight cancellations in various US airports is going to rise to 7,700 from the 6,000 recorded on Monday 10 January due to snow storms in the southern and northeastern states of the US.
At Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the US, four out of five runways were operational on the morning of 11 January.
At the airport, Delta Air Lines cancelled 1,700 Delta and Delta Connection flights on Tuesday and said that it will cancel 800 flights on Wednesday 12 January .
AirTran Airways cancelled 260 flights on Tuesday and said will cancel more than 50 on Wednesday.
Flights were also cancelled in the northeast of the country, including airports in Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Maryland.
Raleigh-Durham International Airport also cancelled 75 early morning flights on Tuesday due to icy weather conditions.
Boston Logan International Airport has already begun cancelling flights due to the predicted snow at 4:00AM on Wednesday.
Smaller airports in the region such as Hartford Bradley, Providence, Westchester County are expected to be affected by the storm.
