The German Government has lifted the suspension of passenger flights from Yemen but has decided to continue the ban on air cargo from entering the country.

The decision comes after a new security report from Germany’s interior ministry, which sent German police to Yemen to investigate security at Sanaa International Airport.

Germany relaxed the ban after the inspection by safety experts found that security measures at the airport are in line with international standards.

The German transport ministry said passenger planes had been given permission to fly from Yemen to Germany as of 13.00GMT on 12 November, according to Reuters.

Countries including Germany, the US, the UK and France imposed a ban on flights originating from Yemen after the discovery of two bombs found hidden inside packages.
