Cochin International Airport in India has awarded a contract to Sita for the automation of the passenger check-in process, including self-service check-in and passenger bag reconciliation at the airport.

Under the five-year, multi-million dollar agreement, Sita will provide its common use self-service (CUSS) kiosks and 80 AirportConnect Open workstations for check-in, boarding and baggage areas.

CUSS kiosks will enable multiple airlines to share self-service kiosks for faster passenger check-in, while the common-use platform will allow shared airlines to use more than 80 workstations.

AirportConnect Open workstations and CUSS kiosks support the use of 2D barcode technology at the airport to facilitate fast and convenient check-in and boarding.

The airport has introduced Sita's passenger-bag reconciliation and message distribution solutions such as BagManager and BagMessage to ensure the right bag always gets on the right plane.
