Searidge Technologies has received a contract from Malta Air Traffic Services to provide its intelligent video surveillance system at Malta International Airport.

The IntelliDAR is a ground surveillance system that will provide situational awareness of the airport's movement area, adjoining taxiways and apron.

The system will use commercial off-the-shelf video sensors and advanced intelligent video processing to detect and track aircraft and vehicles.

IntelliDAR will provide ground traffic information via a one-look display to air traffic controllers in real-time, and automate and replace the existing manual surface management procedure set.

The system, once fully deployed, will further automate and integrate electronic flight strips, approach radar, airport operational database and runway lighting systems to enable peripheral applications and additional efficiencies, according to Searidge.
