Security solution provider Vision-Box has installed its biometric Automated Border Control (ABC) gates at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The new biometric gates will automate and modernise the clearance and border passage of Argentinian citizens entering the country through the airport.

The new ABC eGates at the Ezeiza arrivals terminal are available to passengers aged 18 and over possessing an Argentinian passport. Travellers can self-process though the eGates unattended.

Argentina Minister of the Interior Rogelio Frigerio said: “The biometric eGates will not only speed up the transit time of travellers but will also allow us to gather more accurate information of those entering and exiting Argentine territory using digital technology.”

Frigerio further added that the installation is fulfilling the department’s goal of ‘speeding up border crossings to encourage tourism and investment in the country, while at the same time improving the border’s security levels.’

Behind the eGates, orchestration software compares and authenticates the information embedded in the passenger’s passport with live facial and fingerprint capture and match.

Additional expansion plans will enable Argentinian citizens to use their national ID card and third-country nationals to use their ePassports at the ABC eGates.

eGates are also planned to be deployed at Terminal A, with another two slated for Terminal C to process departing passengers.
