At least 110 people are reported to have been killed after twin bomb blasts outside the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.

The blast took place outside the crowded gate of the airport, disrupting the evacuation process for tens of thousands of Afghans looking to leave the nation.

Soon after the first blast at the airport, another explosion was reported at a hotel nearby. Gunfight was also reported at the airport site.

According to reports, the casualties included 13 US troops.

This is said to be the largest number of US troops killed in Afghanistan in a single incident since August 2011, when 30 US personnel lost their lives after a helicopter was shot down.

US troops have been evacuating American and Afghans from the country since the Taliban took over control in Kabul on 15 August.
