Swissport has renewed a contract with airport cargo handling services supplier Qatar Airways Cargo at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Valid until the end of 2025, the contract includes ramp handling and air cargo warehousing.

It will also involve the handling of general cargo, pharmaceuticals, dangerous goods and temperature-sensitive goods at the airport.

Under the renewed contract, Swissport will get a substantial baseload of cargo tonnes annually at Schiphol Airport, where it offers secure transfers of cargo shipments to and from aircraft through the Swissport warehouse.

Swissport EMEA Cargo senior vice-president Rudolf Steiner said: “We are honoured to again be entrusted by Qatar Airways Cargo, one of the leading air cargo carriers.

“Through consistent performance and reliable quality delivered across all airports, we continue to prove the value of our services to our global customers.”

The company can also connect Qatar Airways Cargo to regional airports across the UK using its road feeder services to Aberdeen, Belfast, Bristol, East Midlands, Glasgow and Newcastle through its warehouses in Manchester and Birmingham.

Swissport and Qatar Airways have also signed new cargo handling contracts at airports in Manchester and Birmingham for a period of five years.

Set to start on 1 September, the contracts will further strengthen the relationship between Swissport and Qatar Airways Cargo.

Qatar Airways Cargo chief officer Guillaume Halleux said: “Our long-term partnership with Swissport in Amsterdam, Manchester and Birmingham will allow us to offer our customers fast, seamless and efficient handling for all types of cargo.”

In February, Swissport partnered with Unilode and Descartes to equip its cargo warehouses with Bluetooth sensors by the end of the year.
