Smiths Detection has delivered and installed 34 units of the CTX 9800 DSi checked baggage Explosive Detection System (EDS) at 11 airports in India.

This includes ten airports managed by the Airports Authority India (AAI) and one Chandigarh International Airport (CHIAL)-managed airport.

The company has also completed the necessary operational training of airport staff at all the sites.

The CTX 9800 is a ECAC Standard 3-approved and Transportation Security Administration (TSA)-certified device developed to offer high-resolution 3D images of luggage to support accurate decision-making and improve airport security standards.

The technology also expedites the baggage screening process, improving operational efficiency at airports.

Smiths Detection India managing director Vikrant Trilokekar said: “At this time, airports need to maximise cost efficiencies through technologies that enable accurate detection and seamless flow of baggage.
