“The new service, training and experience centre in India will allow us to work with customers to implement future-proof threat detection strategies and provide training to use our technology most effectively.”

Smiths Detection said that the hub will be used to provide training on its computed tomography X-ray (CTX) and explosives trace detection (ETD) systems.

Technical training on conventional X-ray screening systems (CXS), metal detectors and networking solutions will also be offered at the new facility.

The customer experience lab will showcase Smiths Detection’s smart screening solutions procedure, intended to enhance traveller experiences, boost operational efficiency and improve security effectiveness.

The facility will accommodate a rework depot that will restore high-value components to full operational mode.

Smiths Detection India managing director Vikrant Trilokekar said: “India is expected to become the world’s third-largest air passenger market by 2024. Keeping in pace with the changing landscape, we want to be able to offer our customers enhanced support and training services that they need.

“Our new service, training and experience centre will better enable our team to quickly respond and help our customers find solutions that best address their growing business needs.”
