Skanska has signed a $335m contract with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to act as the design-builder for the airport authority’s Roadways, Utilities and Enabling (RUE) project.
This contract will be added in the US order bookings for Q4 2020.

RUE project has supported the next phase of assisting work for LAWA’s Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP).
The aim of LAMP is to reduce overcrowding for people travelling to and from the Los Angeles International Airport, which claims to be the third busiest airport in the world and second busiest in the US.
LAMP projects include the Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility, an automated people mover (APM), and Intermodal Transportation Facility (ITF)-West.
Construction will commence in the fourth quarter of 2020, with completion expected in the last quarter of 2025.

In October, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) unveiled a facial recognition system at Tom Bradley International Terminal to simplify the arrival of international passengers.
Known as Simplified Arrival, the new touchless system can automate the document checks that are mandatory for entry into the US.
In addition to streamlining international arrivals, the system helps the airport fulfil congressional directive to record the biometrics of non-US citizens.
